Earth Day is April 22nd this year. In honor of the holiday, we are presenting a two-part series on how Earth Day can help you eliminate debt. In Part I, we will cover how investing in reusable items can save money.
Eliminate Debt With Reusable Products
There are many reusable products on the market that could help you save cash on a daily basis. The more money you can save, the quicker you can eliminate debt. Not only will you benefit, but the earth will too!
Buy Reusable Water Bottles to Save Money
Investing in a reusable water bottle is one way to save money. Instead of spending money on plastic water bottles at the store each week, bring your own water from home with you when you go out. You can refill it at water fountains and sinks while you are out rather than purchasing single-use water bottles. This will also reduce waste and plastic, and help you on your way to paying off credit card debt.
Not only can you use a reusable water bottle, you can reuse water itself. Here are a few ways to recycle water to save money on your utility bill:
- If you have leftover water in your bottle, don’t dump it. Bring it home for your pet’s water bowl.
- If you have a lawn or garden, collect rainwater to water your plants.
- Collect the cold water as you wait for the shower to heat up to use elsewhere.
Invest in Reusable Bags
Another product is a reusable bag that can be used repeatedly. Instead of accepting the typical plastic grocery store bags, spend a few dollars and buy the reusable ones.
Reusable bags are much better for the environment and will help you on the road to eliminating debt. These bags don’t break easily, sometimes grant you a discount, can be used at any store and can hold way more than the flimsy plastic ones. Plus, there are so many different materials and designs, you can find exactly what you like.
If you are working on eliminating credit card debt, every little bit counts. As Earth Day approaches, consider switching to reusable bottles and bags to save money.
