The third Saturday in May is celebrated as Armed Forces Day, a day to pay tribute to and thank the men and women who serve the United States’ armed forces for their patriotic service in support of our country.
Armed Forces Day is celebrated as part of National Military Appreciation Month. Many companies offer military discounts during this time (and some year round) as just a small thank you for all that active service members, veterans, and retirees have done for our country.
To receive a discount, a valid ID is usually required such as a current Military ID Card or a retiree card. Also, many discounts are subject to change based on location. Here is a list of some of the retailers offering special discounts this Armed Forces Day and during the month of May:
AMF Bowling – veterans and active duty personnel can register to obtain two free games for their kids each and every day during the summer from May 13 through September 2
Blue Star Museums – free admission for all active duty, National Guard and Reserve military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day
Boston Market – 10% off your order during the month of May
Carnival Cruise – discounts and onboard credits for active duty and retired military personnel for bookings during the month of May
Dell – additional 10% off during the month of May
General Motors – discount on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac vehicles for all active, reserve, retired, and veteran military through June 30, 2014
Guitar Center – 10% discount during the month of May
Keansburg Amusement Park – $17.95 admission on Armed Forces Day
National Park Service – service members and their dependents can obtain the National Park’s annual pass for free beginning on Armed Forces Day
Outdoor Living Brands – double their current military discount during the month of May
Premium Outlets – additional discounts and savings to all military personnel during the month of May
Rosen Centre Hotel – dining options at 50% off during the month of May
Sam’s Club – free, temporary one-day shopping passes to military personnel, veterans, retirees and their families on Armed Forces Day
Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar – priority seating and a complimentary entrée with the purchase of another entrée on Armed Forces Day
Walt Disney World – Shades of Green (military resort on Walt Disney World property) is offering a room rate discount based upon rank category from May 11-22
