Grease stains can be difficult to get out, and many of us end up throwing clothes away because of them. Laundry detergent just doesn’t get the job done and often leaves faint grease spots behind. But removing the stains is easier than you think using a childhood staple, helping you save your clothing – and hard-earned dollars.
Next time you drop a bit of bacon grease on your shirt, don’t pre-treat with laundry detergent. Instead, grab a piece of white chalk (the kind used on school chalkboards), and rub it over the stain. The chalk will absorb the oil in the stain, making it easier for your washer to do the rest of the work. Throw the item of clothing into the washing machine and clean as usual. Your clothes will come out good as new! Or as good as they were before the stain.
A box of 12 sticks is less than a $1, while a new shirt will cost you a lot more than that. So instead of throwing out your clothes and buying more clothes, which can lead to credit problems, stock up on that cheap white chalk.
