Seeing as we just celebrated Independence Day over the weekend, now is a good time to remind you that the best time to shop is right after a holiday (or season, depending on the item). In this case, the items in question are all of your America-themed products. Retailers across the country are moving all of their American flag bandanas, bathing suits, t-shirts, decorations, and anything else over to the clearance section. So, now is the time to stock up for next year… or is it?
While the prices are probably at their lowest right now, it’s also important to consider the value of these items. These patriotic products may still be more expensive than some other options. For example, if you want to look like an American flag for the day, throw on some blue shorts and a red and white striped shirt. Maybe you have the makings of a 4th of July outfit in the closet already. Why buy something new?
If you’re in need of some patriotic duds, then now is a great time to buy. Just remember that it may not be necessary. Check out your own closet before you go buying clothes that you might only wear once. No need to throw money at items you don’t need when you could be using it to build savings or pay down credit card debt.
This goes for decorations and party supplies too. Sure, maybe you could find some deals right now, but it may be even less expensive to find alternatives. Stick with solid colors rather than the America-themed stuff. Get some red, white, and blue streamers and balloons. You can get those year-round and not have to wait for special sales.
