Shopping smart isn’t a one size fits all kind of thing. Whether you have a slew of smart phone apps or not, there are ways to save out there on just about everything. Here is a review of ways to save money while shopping.
Using Apps, Coupons & More While Shopping Smart
Luckily for consumers, market competition often creates a need to entice buyers to shop one place over another. Saving money is a fantastic motivation and draw for shoppers. We have put together a list of four ways shoppers can save money. Remember, shopping smart isn’t limited to technology, but it can certainly help!
Reward programs have been around a long time. Everything from credit cards to grocery stores to shoe stores offer these types of programs. Reward programs actually reward consumers for their repeat business. You get a deal on products, and they save money by retaining you as a customer. I personally enjoy when grocery stores have reward programs that offer discounts on gas. Cheaper gas just for buying food I need anyway–yes please!
Store & Coupon Apps
Coupons are another classic shopping smart maneuver. The newest craze is getting coupons on your smart phone. There are coupon apps that aggregate deals from all sorts of retail outlets. You can also combine reward programs with coupon apps. Some stores allow you to upload coupons to your reward account.
Paper coupons still have a great impact on things. The annoying junk mail may actually save you some money. If you have just moved to a new place, chances are you will get a lot of promotional mail containing coupons. Keep an eye out for these to save on your purchases.
Shopping smart sometimes means shopping in bulk. Sometimes the bigger the quantity, the better the deal. Stores like BJ’s and Costco are notorious for their larger-than-life sized packages. You can also buy in bulk if there is a great sale for a product that won’t go bad and is used frequently in your household. For example, the other day I must have bought five tubes of toothpaste because it was a terrific sale. I will always need toothpaste, and I stick to the same brand consistently.
Discounted & Clearance Items
The clearance racks or discounted areas in a store are wonderful places for shopping smart. You might not score every time you visit these areas, but the times you do will be worth the wait! Besides the usual clothing stores, groceries stores sometimes have an area with reduced produce or other perishable items that they need to sell quickly. This is a great way to help stretch your grocery budget.
With these four shopping tips, you can be certain to save money on your next trip to the store.
