Tips to Save Money on Clothes Shopping

Whether you love it or hate it, everyone has to go clothes shopping at some point. If you’re struggling to pay off credit card debt, you may not be in a position to do too much shopping. Clothes can be expensive depending on what you need to buy, but there are always frugal options! Some people like to save money on clothes by shopping at thrift stores. If thrift shops aren’t your thing, here are some other ways you can save money on clothes:

Buy out of season.

You might not be in the mood to buy a winter coat in the middle of August, or a sundress in January, but when you buy out of season you can save big! Check out the clearance racks as well for off season clothing. You might have to do some digging, but you never know what good deals you’ll find! As long as you stick to your budget of course, getting good deals can help you avoid credit card debt.

Donate clothes to get coupons.

Some stores, like H&M, will give you coupons when you donate old clothes. This is a great option if you’ve been meaning to clean out your closet and get rid of old clothes, but you need to buy new ones as well! It’s also good to know that the clothes will be recycled or donated rather than you just throwing them in the dumpster.

Make a list of the clothes you need.

Usually people only think of making lists for grocery shopping, but you can treat clothes shopping the same way. Determine what clothes you actually need to buy. If you need a new blazer for work, a pair of jeans, and a sweater, stick to just buying those items. Don’t even step foot into the shoe section!

Shop during big sales.

The most obvious way to save money on clothes is shopping on sale. Some department stores will have big annual or semi-annual sales, so time your shopping to hit these sales if you typically get most of your clothes from those stores.
